The last referendum about Scotland’s independence took place in September 2014. 55% of voters said “No” to the question: “Should Scotland be an independent country?” The turnout of 84.6% was the highest turnout of voters in the last 100 years.
The Scottish National Party declared that a new referendum can be called if there will be a material change of circumstances. “Brexit” is seen as a material change and therefore the voices asking for another referendum are rising.
The new election to the Scottish parliament is scheduled for May 6, 2021. the Scottish National Party’s win will open the road to a new referendum.
